Your body is changing,
Your kids are maturing,
Your parents are aging,
And you wonder what the hell is happening to you!
Do you surrender, "live with it," or do you embrace this time of life, get educated, and become the best version of yourself?!
Officially, menopause is one day in your life, when 12 months of no period have gone by.
The process, however, "the menopause transition," can start in your 40's and last until your mid-50's when your final period has come and gone.
And then you're done, right?
NO, not right! Every day after your last period is "post-menopause" when estrogen deficiency affects every single part of your body, and symptoms like hot flashes, night sweats, insomnia, body aches, "brain fog," and vaginal dryness can persist long after the last period.
New problems like osteoporosis, heart disease, high cholesterol, diabetes, painful sex, and bladder infections become more commonplace.
Menopausal hormone therapy (MHT) can mitigate many of these conditions of "old age." But MHT is not appropriate for everyone. You deserve to have an individualized, comprehensive evaluation of your health and your health risks, and a thorough discussion of all your options, including hormonal and non-hormonal therapies. That is where I come in!
Beyond the physical changes of midlife, there are often accompanying changes in women's attitudes, values, motivations and tolerance. Many women question what's happening in their changing bodies, their career, their relationships, and their spirtuality. Many find themselves selectively pruning their lives to create a life more in alignment with their current values.
Contemplating and making change can be exciting, and also terrifying. Having a physician coach by your side to ask you the hard questions, help you navigate your options, and be your accountability partner and cheerleader, is how you make blazing progress toward your goals, whatever they may be!
The most exciting part of midlife is the ability to choose how you want to live it. And you owe no explanations to anyone! You can decide to choose you.
Do you want to get in the best shape of your life, run a marathon, learn a new language, start dating again, get divorced, open your own business, start a podcast? You can! The only thing stopping you is you!
"Dr Joyce always stay well-informed about recent studies and info related to my issues and age group. She is patient so I never feel rushed. And I never feel like I've asked something stupid. She also stays on top of what I need or am due for. Excellent doctor!!"
"I am impressed and grateful for the level of wisdom Dr. Joyce showed in my appointment. She's demonstrably an expert in her field, and gave clear and well-informed advisement. Thank you Dr. Joyce!"
"I love Dr. Joyce! She is so attentive and really listens to your concerns. She has great bedside manner & very professional. What I loved most about her was she took the time to read through my historical medical records which is quite complicated. This is something I don't see all physicians doing and often come in unprepared but she seemed to have a game plan."
"Dr. Joyce ALWAYS shows empathy, is a great communicator, explaining what she finds during the exam and treatment options (in terms that a layman can understand), and is open to questions....in short, everything you would wish for in a physician! I absolutely would refer other women to her!"
'I feel lucky to have met doctor Beverly Joyce. She was very professional and friendly at the same time. I felt comfortable in expressing my concerns. Doct Beverly listened to me and she explained clearly what to expect. I really appreciate her."
"Dr Joyce has been excellent in helping navigate choices with all the information and expertise she gives me. I always feel comfortable about my next steps."
You've got questions. I've got answers.
I LISTEN. I ask questions that other doctors don't ask, because they're worried it might take too long to explore. I take time to explain things so that you understand what is most important to YOU. I follow guidelines from the largest and most trusted organizations. I won't advise anything unsafe. I partner with you to make the best choices for your care.
I've discovered over my many years in practice that my patients' stories are the most important piece in developing a management plan. I am going to spend the time with you, listen to you, and involve you in the decision-making. Telehealth allows me to do this at times that work for you, from the comfort of your home or office.
I do not take Insurance in my telehealth practice. However, I can generate a superbill for you to submit to your Insurance or your FSA/HSA for reimbursement. You can always use your insurance for any labs or imaging that I order for you.
Yes. Since I cannot examine you in person, it's wise to have a gynecologist that can examine you when needed, and keep you up to date on preventative screenings like pelvic exams, paps, and breast exams.
I prescribe FDA-approved hormonal products for patients in California. These are body-identical compounds, namely estradiol, progesterone, and testosterone (when appropriate.) Other products (synthetic or compounded) are options, depending on your particular needs.
Yes. As part of a comprehensive weight management plan designed specifically for you, I prescribe name-brand products through the manufacturer. Currently I am not equiped, nor do I have the staff, to do prior authorizations for Insurance coverage.
The virtual doors of the practice are opening June 1, 2026. My schedule will be opening in May!
Feel free to reach out to me on social media or send me an email at beverly@drbeverlyjoyce.com.
I will also be opening Zoom "office hours" for questions starting in May.
